Twelve players share lead in national U-11 chess tourney

Twelve players including top seed Ram Aravind of Tamilnadu are leading with perfect score after third round matches of the National Under-11 Open Chess Championship, here today.

Playing with black pieces Ram made short work of team mate Dileep Kumar while second seed Saurabh Anand from Bihar got better off Anshuman Singh of Madhya Pradesh.

In surprising results in the open section, Akshit Kumar of Andhra Pradesh stunned seventh seed Rudraksh Parida of Orissa while third seed Iniyan P of Tamilnadu and fourth seed Samal Ansuman of Orissa satisfied with half point against lower rated Dipanjan Chowdhury of West Bengal and Aditya B Kalyani of Karnataka respectively in the third round.
 

Meanwhile in the girls' category, nine players were giving company to top seed and World Under-10 girls champion Priyanka Nutakki of Andhra Pradesh at pole position with three points after as many matches.

Priyanka defeated Adyasa Mahapatra of Orissa without much struggle while second seed and local hope Vantika Agrawal got walk over against Bommini Mounika Akshaya of Andhra Pradesh as the latter turn up late and forced to give up the match under "Zero Tolerance" rule.

In a major upset in the girls' section, sixth seed Riddhi Zantye of Goa suffered a shock defeat from the hands of Jharkhand girl Pracheta Agarwal.
