Twelve SL fishermen remanded to judicial custody till Oct 16

Twelve Sri Lankan fishermen, arrested on September 30 for allegedly entering the Indian territorial waters, were today remanded to judicial custody by a local court till October 16.

They were produced before the Judicial Magistrate, Velusamy by the Tuticorin Marine coastal Police wing personnel who remanded them to judicial custody.

The Sri Lankan fishermen would later be taken to Puzhal prison at Chennai, Marine police said.

The Coast Guard personnel arrested them for entering the Indian waters 106 nautical miles off Kanyakumari and handed them over to the coastal marine Police.
