Two alleged drug peddlers nabbed in J&K

Two alleged drug peddlers carrying five kg of Charas were today arrested in Bandipora district of north Kashmir, police said.

Rayees Ahmad Dar and Javaid Ahmad, both residents of Shahgund village of Hajin, were arrested during vehicle checking near Wasikhan-Sumbal, 21 km from here on Srinagar-Bandipora road, a police spokesman said.

"The arrested persons are notorious drug peddlers," he said, adding they were travelling in a private car when intercepted by police.

The search of the vehicle led to the recovery of five kg of Charas that has a street value of lakhs of rupees, he said.

A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the duo, police said.
