Two persons, including a woman, were killed while seven others sustained injuries when their vehicle collided head on with a truck today at Kurali in Punjab, 30 kilometres from here, police said.
The accident took place when the victims, all residents of Andhra Pradesh, were returning from Manali in Himachal Pradesh to Chandigarh. When they reached Kurali, their vehicle collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction, investigating officer, ASI Kirpal Singh said.
Cheru Annapurna and K Venkataraju died on the spot while Rajeshwari Devi (51), Nageshwar (65), P Anjoneya (62), K Bhawani (53), B Bhaskar Rao (62), Brijesh (40) and N Kamaraju (57), who sustained injuries, were rushed to PGIMER, Chandigarh, for treatment, Singh said.
A case has been registered against the truck diver who fled the scene leaving his vehicle, he said.
