Two arrested for acid attack, were hired by victim's relative

The two arrested youths, who hails from Jamni village in Jind district, during interrogation revealed that the 18-year-old victim Ritu Sarin's relative had given a supari to them for throwing acid on her face.

The relative, Ram Niwas, who is still at large, had given an amount of Rs 25,000 as advance to the duo, Neeraj and Pradeep, while rest of the amount was to be paid after the attack, area DSP Sumit Kumar told media here.

On Saturday, Niwas made a call on the girl's mobile phone and asked her to come at the crowded Prem Nagar Chowk in Rohtak, where the two motorbike-borne youths threw acid on her.

 

She received serious injuries on her face, arms and chest and was admitted to the PGIMS here.

The exact reason behind the crime would be ascertained after the arrest of Niwas.

Police have also recovered the motorbike used in the crime from the duo's possession.

Meanwhile, both the youths were produced before a local court which sent them to police custody till June 1.

Earlier today, taking a serious note of the incident, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had directed the police to immideately arrest the accused and assured necessary financial help to the budding state player.
