Two arrested for alleged thefts in Kalwa area

Thane police today claimed to have solved 11 cases of house break-in and theft in the Kalwa area with the arrest of two men.

Stolen goods including jewellery, laptops and mobile phones, worth Rs 15 lakh in total, were recovered from the possession of Abrar Akbar Shaikh (21) and Ramzan Galib Shaikh (27), the accused duo, police said.

They were also suspected to have committed thefts in Mumbra, Ulhasnagar and Dombivli, said deputy commissioner of police D S Swami, speaking to the media.

Most of the thefts allegedly committed by the accused were reported last year.

Police had tightened the vigil in the area after there was a noticeable increase in cases of theft. The accused were tracked down from CCTV footage, the DCP said.
