Two arrested for 'burgling' house: cops

Two persons were arrested Wednesday for burgling a house in Rainawari area of the city and stealing jewellery and cash worth Rs 31 lakh, police said.

A case was lodged on a complaint by a man, Javid Ahmad Khan that his house was burgled.

"The police solved the burglary case by arresting two persons. Stolen items worth lakhs of rupees were recovered from them," a police spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said during investigation, suspect Hashim, working as a driver with the family, was called for questioning.

"On sustained interrogation, he disclosed he had hatched a conspiracy with his friend Rayees Ahmad Ganie to burgle the house and had shown him the entire house on video calls," the spokesperson said.

 

The family had gone to attend a marriage function in Lalbazaar area on September 12 with Hashim too accompanying them, he said.

"After reaching Lalbazar, Hashim called up his accomplice to complete the task as planned earlier," the spokesman added.

Stolen properties, including gold items worth Rs 26 lakh and cash Rs 4.96 lakh were recovered from their possession, he said, adding the two were planning to start their own business with the stolen money.
