The Cyber Cell of Madhya Pradesh police has arrested two persons for duping a man of Rs 1.55 lakh after telling him that he had won a prize on popular TV game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC).

The accused called Rambabu Sharma, the complainant, and told him that he had won Rs 25 lakh on KBC and would get the money after paying Rs 1.55 lakh in processing fee and tax, said Superintendent of Police Shailendra Singh Chouhan today.

Sharma, who didn't know who the callers were, was tempted, and deposited the money in bank accounts as told by them, only to realise later that he had been cheated.

After he lodged a complaint, Cyber Cell sleuths laid a trap and arrested Pushpendra Patel (24) and Dilip Kumar (32) from Bhopal over the last two days.

Patel and Kumar, who are cousins, hail from Rampur in Satna district. While Patel sells mobile SIM cards and recharge vouchers, Kumar runs a hotel, the SP said.

The duo were suspected to be involved in cases of cheating outside the state too, he said, adding that further probe was on.
