With the arrest of two persons, Delhi police today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of cheats who used to dupe gullible people of their jewellery, cash and other valuables after giving them bundles of fake currency notes.
Police had received tip off that two persons of this gang will meet at GT Karnal DTC Bus Depot Red Light, Mahendra Park and will proceed towards Jahangirpuri for committing crimes.
A trap was laid at the expected place and at the instance of the informer, Raju alias Nikiya (28), a permanent resident of Jalor district of Rajshthan, and Arjun alias Kali (22) were apprehended.

"Initially she declined the offer. On this, one of them told her that a child in their family is seriously ill and a priest has assured that he could recover only in case his body is touched with some old gold."
"To pursuade her, they told her that the packet contains a lot more money than the value of her old gold earrings and if she agrees to keep this packet, there will be no loss to her. Finally, she was influenced by their emotional talk and gave her gold earrings to them and kept the bundle of notes with her, " said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
After this, both of them went away. On reaching home, she opened the packet and found that only one note of Rs 50 which was placed on top was genuine and rest of the notes were just pieces of folded paper.
Another similar type of complaint was reported at Burari police station
The police then deployed local sources and intelligence to get input about such cheats and finally the duo was nabbed.
During interrogation, the two revealed to they police that they had cheated many people of their cash, jewellery and other valuables by giving them bunch of currency notes.
They disclosed their involvement in such incidents of cheating at Karnal, Panipat, Ambala, Haryana, police said.
