Two arrested for kidnapping UKG student for ransom

Two women were arrested on charges of kidnapping a four and half year old boy in the city demanding ransom of Rs 50,000 for his release.

According to police, the boy Iniyan, son of a knitwear manufacturer in Tirupur and staying with his aunt here in Ramanathapuram, was found missing from the house since yesterday afternoon.

Even as search by his aunt Amutha remained futile, she received a cal from a woman demanding Rs 50,000 for the release of the boy.

Amutha managed to talk to the telephone booth owner, as the woman talked from a public booth and came to know two women were present with a boy and rushed to the spot, police said.
 

Fearing trouble the women escaped from the spot leaving the boy near the shop and Amutha rescued Iniyan from there.

Based on complaint by Amutha, police arrested 54-year old Kamatchi, who was working in the house of Amutha for the last four years and her friend Zarina Bhanu was also taken into custody last night, they said.

On confession by Kamatchi that she had abducted the boy, as she badly needed money.

Both the women were produced before a court today and remanded them custody and lodged in the Central Jail.
