Two arrested for murder of ex-village head

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a former village head on January 2 here, police said today.

Ramsurat Yadav, an ex-SP leader, and Samaru Yadav were arrested yesterday for the murder of Kailash Yadav (50), the former head of Ugapur village, SP (Rural) Ashish Tiwari said, adding the accused have been sent to jail.

Kailash was shot dead when he was returning from a nearby market by some unidentified bike-borne persons, he said, adding the victim's wife, Puja Yadav, is the current head of the village.

The victim's family had registered a case at the Chaubeypur police station against six people, of whom two have been arrested, the SP said.
 

A manhunt has been launched to nab Arvind Yadav and Sandeep Yadav, sons of Bhondu alias Ramjanam Yadav, and efforts are being made to identify the remaining accused, he said.

Bhondu, who was Kailash's arch rival for the post of village head, was murdered a few years ago, Tiwari added.
