Two arrested for robbery, carjacking

With the arrest of two persons, Delhi police today claimed to have worked out three cases of attempt to murder, robbery and carjacking.

"A team of Special Staff/North-West district arrested carjacker-cum-robber Vicky along with his associate Ravi. With their arrest, three cases of robbery, attempt to murder and carjacking of West and North-West district have been worked out," DCP (North West) P Karunakaran said.

According to the senior police officer, on June 5, 2013, Vicky along with two of his associates carjacked a four-wheeler belonging to Anuj Sahdev, a resident of Pitam Pura, Delhi and when he had resisted they had shot him in his arm and fled with his vehicle and two mobile handsets.
 

Thereafter, a case was registered and police had arrested one of the accused Maxi who revealed the involvement of Vicky and another person Neeraj, who had allegedly escaped from the lock-up of Rohini Court complex on April 30, the officer said.

On July 9, based on a tip-off that Vicky and one of his associates would arrive at Shakarpur area here in a Honda City car, police had laid a trap for them.

When the vehicle was seen, police had signalled them to stop, but the accused tried to flee and Vicky had allegedly opened fire at the police team, the officer said.

The police team arrested them and seized two pistols, five live bullets and a Honda City car from their possession.

Charges under the Arms Act have also been slapped on them.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Vicky was involved in three other cases, including murder, and had allegedly formed a gang along with Neeraj, Pardeep Rinku and Prince, the official said, adding they were planning to rob a businessman of Rs 60 lakh in Pahar Ganj area here in a week or so.
