Two alleged drug traffickers were arrested and over 500 kg of marijuana being smuggled into Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) from naxal- affected states was seized, police said today.
The Special Cell arrested Akbar Khan (37) and Mantu Singh (32) from a place near the Mohan Estate Industrial area in southeast Delhi last week, DCP, Special Cell, Pramod Singh Kushwah, said.
The cell was working on an input that a gang was involved in smuggling liquor to Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh amd Andhra Pradesh, and procruring marijuana from areas under the control of naxals in these states, he said.

"Based on the information, a trap was laid and the truck printed with 'Dak Parcel' on front and back was stopped at Mathura Road, opposite to the Mohan Estate Industrial Area," he said.
Both Akbar and Singh were detained after serving notices and the truck was searched. A cavity behind driver's cabin concealed packets carrying marijuana that was found to be 540.75 kg, the officer said.
"The duo through their handlers were involved in supplying illegal liquor from Delhi-NCR to Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh and procuring marijuana from naxal-affected bordering areas of these states and smuggling it back here," he said.
During interrogation, the duo revealed that a multi-axle truck that was used to smuggle marijuana was parked at Taura Road in Nuh (Haryana). It was recovered from there by the police, the officer said.
It was revealed that this gang had purchased three trucks having special cavities to smuggle liquor and marijuana, he added.
