Two arrested for smuggling ganja

Two persons, who used to allegedly smuggle ganja by transporting the drug on vehicles bearing fake government signs, have been arrested, police said.

The accused have been identified as Veerbhadra (42) and Heera Babu (36), both residents of Andhra Pradesh, and over 300 kg of ganja have been recovered from their possession, police said.

"Accused used to paste sign of "On Govt Duty" along with a logo of Railways in front of their vehicles to mislead the cops. We received a tip-off that a tempo was coming to Delhi towards Mayur Vihar area, carrying huge quantity of ganja. Acting on tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested them," said a senior police officer.
 

The tempo was coming from Andhra Pradesh and going towards Ghaziabad, police said.

Officer also said that it was found that the tempo was loaded with some plants. However, after thorough search it was found that there was a secret box, fabricated behind the seat of the tempo and then the ganja was recovered.
