Two workers of a ground handling agency have been arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here for allegedly stealing costly smartphones worth over Rs one lakh from incoming cargo, CISF officials said.

The duo were intercepted by a CISF check squad when they were secretly getting out of the airport yesterday evening.

"On their search, three brand new Samsung Galaxy mobile phones with approximate value of Rs 1,05,000 were recovered from their possession. They could not give satisfactory reply about the mobile phones recovered from their possession when they were questioned.

"On further enquiry, they disclosed that a consignment of mobile phones (in eight cartons) came by Thai Airways at about 1035 hours yesterday and they removed three phones from one carton when they were being brought from flight to cargo terminal on a trolley," CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh said.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) authorities later handed the duo over to Delhi Police which arrested them, he said.
