Two arrested for trafficking

A woman and a middle-aged man were arrested from their residences in Uttar Pradesh by a team of Bankura Police for allegedly carrying out woman trafficking in the district, the police said today.

"Asha Devi and Bhudeb Sharma, both residences of Chai area in Uttar Pradesh, were arrested and brought here on transit remand after they were found to have sold a girl from a village of the district," Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar said.

The duo, with the help of a local Ziauddin Khan, sold the girl in Uttar Pradesh, he said.

The girl's father complained to the police after she went missing following her marriage with Sk Ziauddin, who had told them that he was Sanjib Roy.
 

The police first arrested Ziauddin who had sold the girl to Asha Devi in Uttar Pradesh. Asha Devi later sold her to Bhudeb Sharma, police said.
