Harbans Singh and Jasbir Singh were arrested yesterday and 11 scooters were recovered, they said.
The gang specialises in stealing scooters and disposes them of in the junk market. Police arrested the duo acting on a specific tip off yesterday.
During interrogation Harbans and Jasbir disclosed that they are residing in Tilak Vihar since childhood and that their father was running a small business in Mayapuri junk market.
"Both left studies and started working with their father. In 1998, Harbans got married and shifted from his parental home to a rented accommodation. This move annoyed his father and so he withdrew all financial support to him," a senior police official said.
To earn his livelihood, he started committing scooter thefts along with his brother who runs a makeshift shop in E-Block, Junk Market, Mayapuri," he said.
