With the arrest of two persons with 272 cartons of Haryana-made liquor worth Rs 21 lakh, police today claimed to have busted a gang of liquor smugglers operating in Haryana and neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.
The arrested have been identified as Brijendra Kumar and Ashok Kumar, who hail from Karnal of Haryana.
Police have also seized a truck in which illegal liquor was being transported by the accused.

Police received information that some liquor smugglers with a consignment were travelling towards Bhopura Border early morning today.
"Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested the duo and recovered 272 cartons of Haryana-made liquor worth Rs 21 lakh from their possession," said a senior police officer.
They were smuggling liquor to a supplier in Meerut, the officer said, adding that accused are repeated offenders and have been booked by Delhi police in past.
"They used to purchase huge quantities of liquor at cheap rates from Haryana and sell it at a good profit in various cities of western UP. They have been booked under appropriate sections of excise acts," said the officer added.
