Two persons have been arrested and 39 kgs of poppy straw recovered from them on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.
Acting on a specific information, police intercepted a vehicle on the highway at Jakheni in the district last evening, they said.
During search of the vehicle, police recovered 39 kg of poppy straw, a police officer said, adding that the contraband was concealed in fruit boxes.
Police have registered a case and further investigations into the case are on, the officer added.
