Two persons were arrested today from Azamgarh district with fake currency notes having a face value of Rs 47 thousand, police said today.
Sarfaraz and Baijnath were arrested from Phulpur area of Azamgarh yesterday after they were found in possession of several fake Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes, they said.
During interrogation, the arrested told the police that they had got the currency notes from someone in Maharajganj district, a police official said, adding that a probe has been initiated.
