Two arrested with fake currency notes in Telangana

Two persons were today arrested in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district of Telangana and fake currency notes with face value of Rs 2.65 lakh was seized from them.

Acting on a tip-off, that an international racket is trying to circulate counterfeit notes in Ranga Reddy district, a police team stopped a motorbike yesterday at Burugupally Cross Road and recovered two bags containing currency notes, Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeshwari R said.

On checking, it was found that the currency notes in the denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 were fake. The two persons riding the motorbike, identified as, M Prakash and M Ravinder, were arrested after questioning, the SP said.
 

During interrogation, the duo who are residents of Ranga Reddy district, confessed that they met a person at Malda Railway Station in West Bengal last week, who allegedly belonged to a cross-border Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) racket, Rajeshwari said.

They received the fake currency notes after giving Rs 90,000 in original currency notes, the SP said adding a case has been registered against the duo under relevant sections of IPC and investigation is on.
