The Intelligence Bureau team has nabbed two persons with gold biscuits worth Rs one crore smuggled from Thailand, police said today.

On information that gold biscuits have been smuggled in the country from Bangkok in Thailand and would be delivered by the two to their contacts in Nagpur, the IB team reached Mughalsarai Railway Station and nabbed the duo last night with the assistance of the GRP, said Mughalsarai Government Railway Police (GRP) Inspector, Rantan Singh Yadav.

The arrested persons have been identified as Rajesh Chetan Das and Rajesh Bhatt, both hailing from Nagpur, he said.

The duo had arrived in the country by air from Bangkok to Gaya airport with the gold biscuits hidden in their shoes, Yadav said, adding, they hired a taxi from Gaya and reached Mughalsarai Railway Station to catch Nagpur-bound Sangmitra Express train.

Nearly 4.50 Kg of gold biscuits worth Rs one crore have been seized from their possession.

After interrogation by the IB team, both of them have been handed over to the custom department after registering a case against them here at the Mughalsarai GRP station, he added.
