With the arrest of two persons, Delhi Police today claimed to have busted a gang of auto-lifters which used to specifically target particular brand of luxury cars.
Police have recovered seven luxury cars, including six Honda City cars on the instance of the two accused who have been identified as Azam and Sagar, both 20-years-old.
"On March 31, secret information was received that two notorious auto lifters namely Azam and Sagar would come from Faridabad to go to Vasant Kunj via Chhatarpur 'Y' Point in a stolen Honda City car.

"On checking of vehicles at Chhatarpur 'Y' Point, Azam and Sagar were nabbed and on verification, the car was found to be stolen from Malviya Nagar," said DCP (South) BS Jaiswal.
During interrogation, they confessed that they used to steal only Honda City cars and park them at different locations as their receiver specifically demanded these cars.
After some time, they used to dispose off the stolen vehicle to potential buyers. They were active in South Delhi localities.
Azam met the auto-lifters Rohit, Yogesh Shetty and Sagar in Tihar Jail, where he was lodged for theft of iron pipes. After being released on bail, he joined them and started stealing luxury cars.
At their instance, six more stolen cars were recovered, parked at different locations. So far, 14 incident of motor vehicle theft have been worked out. Efforts were on to arrest the accused Rohit and Yogesh Shetty, said Jaiswal.
