Two bodies recovered from Basanter River in Samba

Bodies of two labourers who were washed away in Basanter river were today found in Samba district here, police said.

The bodies were found after Samba police carried out a massive rescue and search operation with the assistance of SDRF and Civil Defence personnel.

"On August 15, four labourers tried to cross the Basanter River opposite Chichi Mata temple. While two labourers managed to cross the river, the other two slipped and were washed away by the river's flow," a police spokesperson said.

The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Pritam Singh and Vijay Singh. Both the deceased were from Chamba in Himachal Pradesh.
 

"After completing autopsy, the bodies were handed over to the relatives for last rites," they said.
