The police has booked two persons on charges of trafficking after they sent a 49-year-old woman to Muscat where she was allegedly harassed while working as domestic help for an Arab family, an official said today.
According to the complaint filed by the woman, a resident of the Ambernath township here, she was looking for a a job and the two accused, who were known to her husband, helped in arranging work for her in Muscat, a police spokesperson said.
On January 27 this year, the woman left for Dubai and met an agent there.
The agent later sent her to Muscat, where she worked as a domestic help for an Arab family that allegedly harassed her mentally and physically, the police official said.
Later, her family approached the government authorities concerned and with their help, the woman returned to India last month, the police said.
Based on the woman's complaint, the Amberbath police yesterday registered offences against the two accused under IPC sections for cheating and trafficking, the official said, adding that no arrest has been made so far.
