Police today arrested two smugglers along with 200 cartons of illicit liquor during a special drive conducted to check the smuggling of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) from Delhi and Haryana to Uttar Pradesh.

Acting on a tip-off, Indirapuram police team signaled a mini truck canter to stop for checking at Vasundhara traffic signal, SHO Gorakh Nath Yadav said.

Upon search, 200 cartons of liquor of different brands were recovered from them, he added.

The arrested bootleggers -- Vinod and Sandeep -- both natives of Haryana, told the police that they used to ferry the liquor from Delhi and Haryana to Uttar Pradesh as CMFL is cheaper in both the states as compared to Ghaziabad and other adjoining districts, he said.

The SHO said the vehicle along with the liquor was seized and both the accused have been sent to jail.
