Two eight-year-old boys were electrocuted today when they accidentally came in contact with a thick cable rooted in the ground at a southern suburb here, police said.
The deceased were identified as R Abishek and M Janardh, studying in Class III at a government school in Guduvanchery.
The incident took place when the children were playing in front of their school, police said, adding, they came in contact with an electric pole's accessory - a thick cable- used as both a ground support and for earthing purposes.
They fainted soon after and were rushed to the Chengelpet Government Medical College Hospital, about 20 km from the accident spot, where they were declared brought dead, he said.
