Two brothers drown in anicut in Rajasthan's Kota

Two brothers today drowned after they fell into an anicut in Mandvi village here and were swept away by a strong flow of water, police said.

Dashrath Meghwal (12) and Hemraj (10) were grazing cattle near the water body when the younger brother slipped and fell into the water body. The elder brother also jumped in to save his sibling but drowned, said a police official.

Locals rushed to save them but the boys had already drowned, he said.

Their bodies were later recovered from a rivulet in Bhawanimandi area of Jhalawar district, he said adding the bodies were handed over to the family after a post-mortem this morning.
 

A case under section 174 (Police to enquire and report on suicide, etc) of CrPC was lodged in this connection and further investigation was underway, he said.
