Two brothers get 10 yr jail for attempting murder, 24 years

A court here today convicted two brothers and sentenced them to ten years in prison for attempting to murder a man 24 years ago.

Additional district and sessions judge Rajesh Bhardwaj also imposed a fine of Rs 13,000 each on the accused Vivekanand and his brother Naresh after holding guilty under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

According to the prosecution lawyer, Yogesh Sharma, a farmer was shot at by the accused over a property dispute at Bantikheda village in Shamli district on January 8, 1993.
