In a case of suspected honour killing, two brothers who suspected their sister's character, beat her to death with a stick and then hung her body last night at Kannadgaon about 45 km away from the district, police said here today.

The brothers, identified as Kaluram and Pappu Adivasi, had suspected their sister's character for quite some time, which led to a dispute between them last night, Aamla police station in-charge Vikram Rajak told reporters.

Later, they attacked her with a stick, killing her on the spot and later hung her body to give it a colour of suicide to fool the police, he said.

However, acting on leads from the spot, the police arrested the two brothers and registered a case under Sections 302 (murder), 450 (tresspass in order to commit an offence) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code against them.
