Two brothers injured in bear attack

Two brothers were grievously injured after they were attacked by a wild bear that had entered their house in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mohammad Rashid (50) and his brother Rafiq (22) were attacked by the bear yesterday at their residence in Hill Kaka area of Poonch, a defence spokesman said here today.

The bear had apparently entered the their house in search of food when they had been away for work.

When the brothers returned home, the bear attacked the duo who sustained severe injuries especially on the head, the spokesperson said.

The brothers were brought to Jotiyanwali Army base of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under Romeo Force and were immediately given first aid and evacuated to Kulali on stretcher by the Army Patrol from where they were taken to a hospital at Bafilaz in an Army vehicle, he said.
 

"The timely action and first aid provided by Army resulted in saving lives of two villagers," he added.
