Two buried alive in wall collapse

A thatched wall collapsed burying alive a woman and her grandson in a village under Pakribaraman police station area in Bihar's Nawada district today, a police officer said.

The mishap took place in Gulni village as a thatched wall of a house collapsed after heavy rains burying alive a woman Karia Devi (70) and her grandson Rohit Kumar (1) under its debris while the two were sitting near the structure, Pakribarawan Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) Dharmendra Kumar said.

The two were found dead on the spot and their bodies were sent for post-mortem, he said.

Meanwhile, irate local residents blocked the Kauwakol-Pakribaraman road demanding compensation to the kins of the victims.
 

Senior officials rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters and also gave away Rs 30,000 assistance to the aggrieved family for cremation of the bodies, Kumar added.
