Two businessmen among four killed in road mishap

Four persons, including two businessmen, were killed while one was seriously injured when a car collided with a multi-utility vehicle on Dhamtari-Raipur road in Abhanpur area of the district, police said today.

The incident occurred yesterday near Gotiyadih village under Abhanpur police station limits when the car heading towards Raipur collided with the rice-laden MUV, Abhanpur Station House Officer (SHO) Ashutosh Singh said.

The deceased were identified as Akshat Bagaria (27), son of the Raipur-based rice miller Omi Bagaria, businessman Omprakash Agrawal (63), surveyor Jairaj Mathan (57), from Andhra Pradesh, and MUV's driver Kewal Sinha (37), he said.

As per the information, Akshat had gone to Kurud for some business purpose along with his father's business partner Omprakash and surveyor Jairaj Mathan and his son Jaidev Mathan, in his car.
 

Jairaj had arrived here for the evaluation of the quality of rice and the victims visited Kurud for the same purpose, the SHO said.

On their way back to Raipur, Akshat, in a bid to overtake another vehicle, lost control of his car following which it collided head-on with the MUV coming from Raipur side, Singh said.

Akshat, Omprakash and the MUV's driver died on the spot. Jairaj and Jaidev were critically injured and rushed to a private hospital in Raipur, where the former succumbed to his injuries, he added.
