Two cases of dowry harrasment in Faridabad

Three persons have been booked on charges of harrasing and torturing a woman for dowry, police said today.

According to a complaint filed by Shahin, a resident of Sector 3, her husband, his brother and sister-in-law allegedly used to harras her for dowry, said Investigating Officer ASI Dalbir Singh.

The victim married Imran, a resident of Jhotwara in Jaipur, in 2005 and soon after her marriage she was plagued with demands for Rs 5 lakh in cash and a car.

Since she was not able to meet their demands, she was tortured regularly by the accused who also threatened to kill her.
 

A case has been registered under IPC sections 498A (cruelty) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) against the accused and investigations are underway in the case, they said.

In another incident, Sangita, resident of Palla 3, filed a complaint against her husband and in-laws accusing them of demanding dowry, said Investigating Officer SI Khemchand.

In her complaint she alleged that her husband's family was demanding a dowry of Rs 60 lakh but when she refused their demands she was tortured by them.

On the basis of her complaint a case was registered against her husband Amit Nehra, his father Maha Singh and mother Jeet Kaur at police station Sarai Khwaja under IPC Sections 498A, 406, 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
