Two cattle smugglers were apprehended and 312 cattle rescued by the Border Security Force (BSF) in separate incidents in Dhubri district of Assam and Cooch Behar in West Bengal.
The cattle smugglers were apprehended by the troops of border outpost (BOP) Pattamari in Dhubri and BOP South Chamta in Falakata along with cattle when they were trying to smuggle them from India to Bangladesh last night, said a BSF release today.
BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier seized 312 cattle valued at Rs 28,35380 from the duo and handed them over to local police, it added.
