A special CBI court today convicted two former Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) scientists in a corruption case related to giving a forensic opinion about an accused.
"The Special Judge for CBI cases convicted Dr S C Mittal, the then Principal scientific officer and Head of Division (documents), and V K Khanna, the then Principal Scientific Officer, both of Central Forensic Science Laboratory, CBI, New Delhi and Ramesh Sharma, a resident of Delhi, in a corruption case," a CBI spokesperson said.
The case dates back to 2005 when Mittal, Khanna and Sharma allegedly "entered into a criminal conspiracy to give undue advantage to Sharma. In pursuance of the criminal conspiracy, both the CFSL officials abused their official position as public servants and framed a report giving a wrong opinion as experts and forwarded the said report to additional SHO, Defence Colony police station for submission in the court in order to favour Sharma."

The quantum of sentence in this case will be pronounced on October 11.
