Two children buried alive as mound of earth caves in

Two children were buried alive and three others injured today after a mound of earth caved in and fell on them in Bandhtola locality under Bhatwara panchayat in Bihar's Katihar district, police said.

A group of children were playing near a ditch below a road under the Prime Minister Grameen Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) when a mound of earth lying there suddenly caved in burying five children under the debris, Kodha police station in-charge Sunil Kumar said.

While two children, identified as Laxmi Kumari (13) and Krishna Kumar (10) died on the spot, three others sustained injuries, he said, adding, the injured were rushed to a Sub-Primary Health Centre where the condition of one of them, identified as Jiwachi Kumari, is stated to be critical.
 

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, Kumar said.
