Two three-year-old children were burnt to death when a makeshift hut in a paddy field accidentally caught fire in Odisha's Phulbani district today, the police said.
The children were playing along with two other kids in the hut, meant for staying in the paddy field during harvest season, at Tiramaha village under Phiringia police station when they got a match box and lighted it.
The dry paddy stacks immediately caught fire and engulfed the kids. While two kids managed to save themselves, two others identified as Guddi and Raju died, police said.
The villagers and their parents who rushed to the field after sighting the fire, could not venture inside to save the children.
