Two children lost their lives after being swept away by turbulent waters while bathing in a canal in Sheikhpura district of Bihar today.
Police said the incident occured at
Babanbigha village and the deceased have been identified as Dharmendra Kumar (10) and Ranjeet Kumar (11).
Barbigha Circle Officer (CO) Shiv Shankar Pandey said the two children had ventured out in the morning to take a bath in Satian canal that comes from adjoining Nawada district.
"They got swept away due to the increased flow and volume of water after heavy rains in the area. Both of them could not gauge the situation," added the CO.
Police have recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem.
