Two children die, two drowned in Odisha

Two children died when wall of an old temple collapsed on them at Kantiagada village, about 45 km from here in Odisha's Ganjam district, police said today.

The deceased, Rajesh Pradhan of Nilandripur and Rajesh Sahu of Humma, both 15, were studying in Class X.

They had gone to the temple for a feast yesterday when the mishap took place, said sub-divisional police officer (Chhatrapur) A C Pahi. While Pradhan died on the spot, Sahu died on the way to the hospital.

In another mishap, two sisters drowned while bathing in river Rushikulya at Bhimapur village, about 35 km from here yesterday. The deceased were Mamini Das, 12, a Class VII student,
 

and her sister Krishna, 7, a Class II student.

Fire personnel recovered their bodies and took them to hospital at Purushottampur. The doctors declared them dead, sources said.
