In the first incident in Semra village, nearly 50 houses and hutments were reduced to ashes when the fire broke out last night.

Two children Mohan (5) and his sister (3) were killed in the mishap, police said.

Two women were also injured in the blaze while they were trying to take out their belongings from the houses.

In the second incident reported in Dihua village in Dhaurehra, two dozen hutments were reduced to ashes and five persons sustained burn injuries.

The cause of both the fire incidents could not be immediately ascertained though negligence on part of villagers like leaving burning garbage in the open is suspected to be the reason behind the blaze.
