Two clerks held on graft charge

vigilance sleuths today arrested a Primary Health Centre (PHC) clerk and a senior clerk on graft charge from Bihar's Katihar and Gaya districts respectively, an official release said.

Acting on a complaint, a vigilance team laid a trap and nabbed the PHC clerk Vivesh Kumar as soon as he took Rs 15,000 as bribe at a tea shop outside the PHC from one Abhayanand Singh in lieu of release of arrears of his salaries.

Another vigilance team arrested Ramji Das, a senior clerk of law section at the Gaya district collectorate for taking a bribe of Rs 11,000 from one Om Prakash Verma for measurement of land and issuance of an order in this regard.
 

Das was nabbed from his office at the district collectorate, the release said.

Both the arrested clerks are being brought to Patna for interrogation and production before a vigilance court.
