Two commit suicide in separate incidents

A 15-year-old girl committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence at Kalantrabala near Kreeri in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, a police spokesman said.

50-year-old Khurshheeda Begum also ended her life by jumping into river Jhelum near Kitchama-Sheeri in the district, he said, adding that efforts are on to recover her body.

With the death of the two, a total of eight suicide cases have been reported in Kashmir valley over the past three days. While three girls and a youth died after allegedly consuming poison, two others survived the attempt and are undergoing treatment in different hospitals.

 

In another incident, the spokesman said an 18-year old-girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a field near Sholipora village of Budgam district.
