Two contract labourers working for state departments were killed in separate mishaps at Nagaur and Bhilwara districts of Rajasthan, police said today.

Ramkumar Dholiya (28) who was hired by a discom for power line maintenance work was electrocuted to death while changing a feeder line at Liliya village of Nagaur district yesterday, they said.

The body remained dangling from the high power tension line for around five hours before it was brought down and sent for post mortem, police said, adding the villagers held a protest demanding compensation for the victim.

In the second mishap, Kalyan Singh (55), working as a guard with the Transport Department, was crushed to death by a heavy vehicle on Jaipur-Ahmedabad National Highway last evening at Pur town in Bhilwara district, police said.

The incident occurred when its driver was signalled to stop during a surprise check by transport department officers on overloading of vehicles, they said.

The vehicle was seized while the driver managed to flee, police added.
