Three persons, including a woman assistant sub inspector, were today arrested for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe, an ACB official said.
ASI Bhavnaben Santoki and constable Govind Gajiya, and their mediator Biju Gamara, were apprehended today during a trap laid by the Anti-Corruption Bureau at the University police station where the two were posted, the official said.
"Santoki had threatened the complainant that she would book the latter's husband in a fake case. She demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to not do so. The deal was finalised at Rs 25,000," the official said.
"The complainant lodged a complaint against the ASI with Rajkot ACB after giving the first instalment of Rs 10,000," said C J Sureja, investigating official of the Rajkot ACB.
"The ASI was today caught red-handed while accepting the second instalment of Rs 15,000 from the complainant. The constable and Gamara were arrested for helping her," Sureja added.
The official said that further investigations were underway.
