Two cops booked for demanding bribe

Two constables of the Thane rural police were charged with an offence for allegedly demanding bribe to favour the complainant in a criminal case, Anti Corruption Bureau said today.

Constables, Adhik Bhimrao Ghadge and Bhimrao Patil, attached to Kashimira Unit, Local Crime Branch (LCB) allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 2.25 lakh from the complaint, whose brother was arrested in a theft case, claiming they would help him out in getting bail, Superintendent of Police, ACB, Thane Range Datta Karale said.

Following the demand made on September 26, the relative filed a complaint against the duo. After preliminary investigations, a case was registered section 7 (demanding bribe) of Prevention of Corruption Act at Kashimira police station yesterday.
 

No arrest has been made so far and further probe was on.
