Two cops held in a bribery case

Two policemen, including an Assistant Commissioner of Police posted at the Thane Police Commissionerate were today arrested for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 40,000.

"ACP of Ulhasnagar Division S M Khade and Police constable Bharat Baburao More of Ulhasnagar police station on deputation to the office of the ACP were trapped while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a person for doing an official favour," Additional Superintendent of Police, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Thane Unit, Srinivas Ghadge said.

The bribe had been demanded from the complainant to grant him permission from the ACP to start a video parlour.
 

The complainant approached the ACB and lodged a complaint, after which a trap was laid in the office of the ACP.

Around 7.50 pm, More was caught red-handed receiving the bribe amount on behalf of the ACP and the duo was arrested, the ACB said.
