A police sub-inspector and a
constable were arrested while they were allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 here, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said today.
Sub-inspector Tushar Bhadane (29) and constable Babasaheb Shelar (33), attached to Virar police station, were caught red-handed last evening while they were taking the bribe sum from complainant, Deputy Superintendent of Police, ACB (Palghar) A K Aphale said.

According to complainant, who is into building material supplying business, the two policemen on several occasions intercepted his truck and took bribe to give entry into the district. Vexed by their repeated demands, the complainant approached the local ACB unit.
"Last evening a trap was laid at Mandvi police checkpost in Virar. As soon as the truck reached the checkpost, the duo demanded a bribe of Rs 60,000 and the moment complainant handed over Rs 10000, ACB caught them red-handed," the official said.
A complaint has been lodged under relevant sections pf Prevention of Corruption Act against the two cops.
