Two CRFP jawans killed as vehicle turns turtle in Bastar

Two CRPF jawans were today killed and as many injured when an SUV, part of the convoy of a senior paramilitary officer, they were travelling in overturned in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district, police said.

The incident took place under Kodenar police station limits when the the SUV, in the convoy of CRPF's Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dheeraj Kumar, skidded off the road and overturned as the driver lost control, a senior police official told PTI.

The convoy was heading to Jagdalpur district headquarters from Bijapur.

A police team was rushed to the spot and the injured jawans were shifted to Jagdalpur government hospital, he said.
 

Constable Anup Kumar Ghosh of the 119thbattalion of CRPF died on the spot, the official said, adding head constable Anil HM, of 222ndbattalion, who was driving the vehicle, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

While Ghosh was a native of Nadiadistrict in West Bengal, Anil belonged to Hassan district of Karnataka.

Two other personnel - head constable Ravindra Kumar and constable Tarun Kumar are kept under observation, he said.

A case has been registered in this connection and investigations are on, the official added.
