Two persons with criminal record were arrested after two country-made pistols and live cartridges were recovered from them near Bandra railway terminus, police said today.
Rajesh Hiwale (21) and Ganesh Malsure (26) were apprehended near the railway station last evening in a trap laid by the police, said officials.
The tip-off about the two reaching the spot was received by police sub-inspector Daya Nayak. According to the information, the two criminals were to arrive at the spot to meet their associates at about 5.30 PM yesterday.

Accordingly, in a joint operation, Nayak's team and policemen from Nirmal Nagar police station laid the trap and nabbed the duo and recovered two country-made pistols and as many live cartridges from them.
"The two were put behind bars under the charges of Arms Act. During the probe, it has emerged that they may be having links with the underworld and the verification is underway," an official at Nirmal Nagar police station said.
The accused had also admitted that the firearms were earlier used for firing, police said adding that a probe was on to establish in which firing case they were involved.
Hiwale has a criminal case against him in Kherwadi police station while his associate Malsure has at least five cases against him in neighbouring Thane city and he had been externed from that city limits.
